General Duties :

  • Ability to access damage and build estimates on all mechanical components of a vehicle that have been damaged in a collision. 
  • Perform repairs to specification (brake systems, fuel systems, ignition systems, air conditioning systems, steering/suspension systems and wheel alignment
  • Ability to explain mechanical diagnosis and repairs to non-mechanical individuals, which may include co-workers and/or customers on an as-needed/required basis
  • Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay or become proficient in automotive diagnosis and repair.
  • Keep store management informed of service area mechanical repair issues as they occur.
  • Perform Vehicle Inspection/Courtesy Checks as required following our normal service inspection procedures.
  • Maintain an orderly and organized service bay
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Job Duty Details :

  • Perform tasks for which they are qualified over the following areas: brakes, electrical, engine performance, heating/AC and suspension/steering.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as required for the orderly management of the store, such as: removing, mounting and / or installing tires, shocks, struts, batteries and other automotive supplies and services.
  • License to drive company or customer vehicles.
  • Maintain service standard of cleanliness, orderliness and appearance of space and equipment in the department.
  • Maintain operating efficiency of tools and store equipment (e.g. alignment machines, lifts, brake lathes, etc.)
  • Comply with company safety policy and federal/state OSHA safety requirements which include, but not limited to, the wearing of approved eye/ear protection, proper lifting techniques, proper footwear, etc.
  • Attend meetings as required.

What you bring: 

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Although equivalent education/experience will be considered, ideally you have 1 to 3 months of relevant experience and/or training
  • Operator Driver’s License
  • State Inspection License
  • Solid skills and a strong work ethic 

Physical Requirements:

  • The physical requirements of the position are Light to Medium Work.
  • Constant – Reaching, sitting, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing.
  • Frequent – Repetitive motion.
  • Occasional – Balancing, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and lifting (100 lbs.)
  • Frequent – Must be able to lift 25 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Frequent – Required to stand for long periods of time.

 Physical Working Conditions:

 This position is subject to inside and outside environmental working conditions including but not limited to:  temperature changes, outside weather conditions, slightly elevated ambient noise levels, minor potential physical hazards as electrical, mechanical, and cleaning equipment, and minor atmospheric conditions affecting skin or respiratory systems such as fumes, odors and dusts associated with operating an auto dealership.
